Method choice
Most fast solvers use a Yau-style approach: some edges and a cross early, centres built around them. The principles match the 5x5 but with more pieces per edge to manage.
Pacing
A 6x6 solve is long. Plan the order of work to avoid regripping the cube, and avoid disrupting pairs you already made.
