Reduction with fixed centres and no parity. A first solve, about 45 to 90 minutes.
Move sequences on this page are only checked to be legal moves for this puzzle in cubing.js. Treat them as demonstrations of the notation and the method, not as verified algorithm lists.
How the 7x7 works
The 7x7 is the 5x5 with two more layers. Each face has a 5x5 block of centre pieces with a fixed middle. Each edge has five pieces: a middle edge and four wings. It has no parity.
Wide moves can cover up to three layers: Rw is two, 3Rw is three.
Rw U Rw' — two-layer wide move3Rw U 3Rw' — three-layer wide move1. Centres
Build a 5x5 block of one colour on a face, then the opposite face and the ring. The fixed middle shows you the colour scheme.
2. Edges
Build each edge as five pieces in a row. Put the middle edge in the front-right slot, add wings one pair at a time with slice moves, and keep finished edges out of the way.
3. Solve as a 3x3
Solve the reduced cube with the 3x3 beginner method. There is no parity to fix.
